Saturday of a long weekend just feels more luxurious than a normal Sunday, am I right?
We spent the morning getting some goodies from the local bakery (spinach-feta croissant for me, blueberry walnut scone for him) and happy morning beverages (caramel Americano with cream for me, coffee with cream for him) and doing a little bit of clothes shopping (lots for me, nothing for him).
In the early afternoon, I strapped Gabe to my back (sometimes strollers are just too bulky):
Um, I told you this was my summer uniform. Crap. Also, see that ukelele on the wall? Fun, right? That was Mike’s idea.
And stepped out our front door and directly into a lively art and music fair:
This is precisely why we live where we live: it’s SO CLOSE to so many things.
There were plenty of fun bands…
It made me laugh to see a band playing in front of Chipotle, for some reason. And the second band had a CELLO. It was awesome. I had to restrain myself from busting a move in the middle of street.
There were also plenty of, um, unusual sightings…
I’m as much of a fan of the president as the next guy, but it just seems a tad odd to have a giant painting of him for sale. Also, every city needs a random wizard man, right? Not pictured: dude with hair down to his heels. I AM NOT KIDDING, PEOPLE.
And, my personal holy grail of street fairs:
Some (my husband) may say that five dollars is too much for a pile of shaved ice with sugar, but I know the truth. (And the truth is that he is probably right. I should have saved my five dollars.)
Despite reaching 100 (!!!) degrees (!! Ohio! September!!), there was much fun to be had:
Street performers make me feel like I live in a legit city. And, hello, lover. Blue tongues for everyone!
How did Sir Gabe enjoy the fair? He was fascinated with the guy on stilts, but he was mostly sort of hot and sweaty:
Let’s remedy that with some time at home and a tasty 50 cent iced green tea, mmkay? (Psst: Gabe, the straw.)
Since we were so close (10 feet) from the festival, we were able to come back for dinner…
Indian! On our STREET! Hurrah! Samosas for everyone! After Indian, Mike and Gabe danced to reggae music. I sat, rubbed my full belly, and licked the plates.
All in all, Gabe gave the day a big thumbs up. Or, thumb up, actually. A very angry thumb up.
(Actually, it was just a sleepy thumb up.)
Enjoy your Labor Day, (American) friends!
I hope it’s full of happy food and not working. (Or people who are very kind to you if you’re working!)

what a fun Saturday! I love random festivals like that! I can’t believe shaved ice was $5 though…we have tons of it around our house and it’s all SO cheap!

Shaved ice……haha. Where I’m from, we call them snow cones lol. Love that this is how you said goodbye to summer. So wonderful.

Looks like a fun Saturday to me! I’ve never had a snocone before (I know) but that did look very yummy, even if it was 5 dollars :)

My Sunday was full of good food, minus the street fair! And that last picture? Kills me!
