When I shared my bucket list for the summer, I took a break from setting monthly goals. This is when I discovered my truth: I have to set monthly goals if I want to keep doing big stuff and changing in the ways I want to change. I do set my weekly goals which help me stay on track with on the practical stuff I need to get done, but the monthly goals keep me moving forward.
This summer has been lovely, but I’ve felt entirely off without verbalizing my intentions.
So, they’re baaaack.
[August Intentions]
Life
Finish summer bucket list: Namely – camping, picnicking, Tremont, Coventry, see a sunset over a lake, run a race, eat watermelon salad, and eat dinner outside.
Share my energy/waste audit: After getting back from the farm, I was inspired to take action on my inspiration. So, I made a list of ways we can reduce our waste and energy use and I’m working my way through it. I can’t wait to share it with you! Doing stuff like this really energizes me.
Go to a MOMs Club Meeting: About a thousand years ago, Bri found a moms’ group that meets near me. She encouraged me to go, but I never did (WIMP). This month I am going to! My non-traditional working schedule – I work 3 days a week, but on the other 2 days, I have to work from home for myself. And on the weekends, I treasure our family time. I’m neither a full-time working nor full-time stay-at-home mom, a fact which has made it difficult to connect with a playgroup for Gabe. But I’m determined to try it out.
Business
Cold Call Email Two Dream Clients: I set this intention waaay back in April and it’s time to try it again. Rejection, here we come! (Er, positive thinking, Ash.)
Update my Etsy shop: I am going to limit what I make, so that means selling some supplies and reducing some inventory. It also might just mean dusting off my poor neglected sewing machine (and perhaps moving it out of Gabe’s bedroom so I can actually use it). Look out for supplies if you are crafty!
Work on My Site: Before the super busy fall months, I want to add more information to my website for potential clients.
Learn More about My Canon 5D: Yep, I bought a new camera. Well, it’s actually an old camera that belonged to the fabulous photographer Ashley Forrette. It’s a bit of an adjustment from my Rebel, so it’ll take some time to master. I’m having some issues with sharpness that I can probably solve by not shooting wide open all the time (It’s an addiction), but I know that full-frame shooting is superior. I’ve had fun (and a little frustration) playing around with it:
Here’s to a wonderful last month of summer!

Wow, those are both august intentions and August intentions. Good luck!

I completely agree that I accomplish so much more when I set monthly goals- I took a break in July but this month they are definitely back. It should be fun to play with a new camera :)

I am in old complete denial that it is the last month of Summer because August is when it finally gets hot here in Portland. I think that it is good to make goals like this because time flies so fast and before we know it the next season is upon us!

Oooh, a new camera. Always fun (and intimidating) to learn how to use ’em. Yay to giving you an excuse to taking more photos! And good for you for following through on the mom’s group. Just treat it like a weekly appointment – block off the time in your calendar and make it a priority to go. I think both you and Gabe will be thankful once it becomes routine – can’t wait to hear more!

That is SO super exciting that you got a new camera! Yay! I hope you land your dream clients! :) Happy August!

I’m so inspired by your monthly goals/intentions! I used to write mine out, but I’ve been slacking as of late. Also, I was excited to see that there are groups out there for Moms! But bummed to find out that they are for Part-Time or Full Time Stay at Home Mom’s only. :( I’m definitely looking to “branch out” and meet new people (the only people I really know from the area are our neighbors + work people).
