And the bike helmets and toddler bike seat are dusted off for the season’s inaugural bike ride.
Living somewhere that usually doesn’t see spring until April or May, these past few weeks have been an absolute treat. I’ve lived in all sorts of climates – from the tropical equator to the chilly midwest to the balmy islands of Hawaii – and I must say that having seasons makes me appreciate warmer weather so very, very much. The sunshine and open windows boost my mood and my productivity. Oh, happy spring.
I can’t believe what a little BOY Gabe is now! Look at his skinny legs and arms! Why do they have to grow so fast?

Ditto to pretty much everything you said in this post! (Gabe photos are super dope!) Did you buy a child seat that attaches to your bike or a trailer that sits closer to the ground? What were your reasons for making that decision (e.g., money, safety, comfort, ease of use, etc.)? We’re in the midst of making decisions for this summer and I’d love your input!
Oh! Fun topic. We got this seat that is on Mike’s bike. We decided to go that route because:
– Trailers scare me. I have an irrational fear that a car will hit him or it will become detached..??
– We wanted him up by us so we could see him.
– It takes up less space, storage-wise.
– We wanted to be able to bike on roads, not just trails, and that’s easier to do with just a seat.
I think it would probably be more comfortable for HIM to have a trailer, but the bike seat we got has a resting pillow thing if he would ever want to sleep.
The only drawback is I could never go on a bike ride with him alone. Oh, and it’s only able to be used up to 4 years old (not sure about trailers).

I can’t get over all the pictures with actual green grass – we still have over a foot of snow! And even in the middle of summer, we typically only get maybe a week where it’s warm enough for Topher to go without pants … I’m jealous!
So jealous! Portland, Oregon is snowing/mix with rain for the millionth day in a row. I cannot remember when I last saw a blue sky or the sun…I think a few weeks ago. Also, I am pretty sure my skin is so translucent you can see right through me. What is going on!

You’re right, this definitely has been the best March ever. Temperatures have been crazy warm up here in Michigan too (over 80 degrees for the past three days! What!?) and I’m loving every minute of it. I hope it stays this way!
