He:
– Continues to sleep well (for my standards) – waking up once or twice a night to eat and taking several good naps through out the day. I’ve been alternating the naps in the Ergo and the swing. Sleep crutches ahoy! (And he’s still right next to me all night. Wouldn’t have it any other way. Baby snuggles. Yum.)
– Is just freaking gigantic. I hope he stays little for a long time, but at this rate, no luck.
– Continues to cry a lot. I don’t know that I’d use the word “colicky,” but he’s definitely high needs and it can be tough some days. I worry about how others would deal with the crying (I don’t want to stress another caregiver out with my baby), which adds to the fun.
– Is rolling from his front to his back every time we try to do tummy time (Which: I feel like I’m baby talking in a high-pitched voice when I call it that. Tummy time. Maybe I should call it neck strengthening time? Or stomach time? We are adults! We don’t call it tummy when we’re talking to each other! It’s possible I get annoyed with stupid things!).
– Still adores his big brother – in fact he’s recognizes all three of us by our face and voice, which is so sweet.
– Super into swaddles and pacifiers. Big fan. Not into being left alone. Gets lonely.
I:
– Am getting eager to get back to working on websites and I’ve already started a few small things for clients here and there. The biggest obstacle is finding a nanny to watch Theo two days a week while Gabe is at preschool so I can work. Hiring a stranger kind of overwhelms me, so I was hoping someone we’d know or was referred to us would work out, but so far no luck. I posted an ad on a babysitting site and am hoping to find someone very soon!
– Started running last week after I was cleared at my postpartum visit. Usually I go through a “I hate this but I know it’ll eventually get easier” phase when I start back to running after some time away, but this time I was so thrilled to be out of the house on my own, the difficulty of running again doesn’t even register. Running time is my alone time and always has been. I am not doing a couch to 5K or anything, just increasing my mileage each run by 10% to slowly get up to 3 miles of running.
– Began to try to lose the baby weight about 2.5 weeks ago and am down 5 more pounds since last month. Slowly but surely I’ll get back into my regular clothes! Aside from that goal, I’ve never lost weight before(it sort if fell off after Gabe and, yes, I’m jealous of past me), so it’s kind of cool to put a little bit effort in and see results. (I’m not doing anything crazy – just trying to watch what I eat and stay within my calories+nursing calories per day. And drinking lots of water. And running.)
– Am enjoying the heck out of this baby. (Until he cries. Then, I’m just sorta enjoying him.)
For comparison funsies: the black and white faceplant side eye!

They do look alike, don’t you think? That’s fun! Meredith and Liam don’t even compare; no one would confuse their baby pictures. Theo is just adorable and man I wish Liam would have stayed little longer too. At 7 months he weighs about as much as a two year old (not even joking).

They don’t really look that similar! I just chose a photo where they were the same pose so they did. :) Plus, Gabe was 3 weeks old in that photo, so it’d be more fair to compare two 2-month-old pictures. Like this with this or this. Gabe’s face was so round!

I say tummy pretty often, but I used to hate how it sounded. I don’t know why I started saying it as an adult. It’s like the word “panties.” I can’t bring myself to say it. But, I did want to say that I like that you’re not into a lot of baby-talk because I think kids need simple, but authentic language to model their own language after.

Theo is adorable! Both of my kids hated being on their tummies – Topher has a flat spot on the back of his head and Ellie learned to roll over really early. Good luck with your childcare situation … we had someone lined up but it fell through so I’m back on the hunt too. If only I could clone myself …

Aw Theo is getting so big already, how have two months flown by already!? Love the sweet photos of him and hopefully the little guy will cut back on the crying soon. And hurray for some alone time running, woo.

Is it just me, or do Theo & baby-Gabe look a lot alike?! I’m not great at, like, infant identification, but I think they look incredibly similar.
What a cute little guy! Glad to hear you’re doing well as a new mama of two. <3

Absolutely precious, happy two months Theo!

Ah, Theo is SO CUTE. Glad the return to running is going well- hope you can find a nanny so the return to work can go well too. If he is only going to be watched for a few hours when Gabe is at preschool, I think most people should be able to handle a little crying. They won’t be trying to get anything else accomplished like you sometimes might be :) (I only speak from experience ha ha).

Fingers crossed that an awesome Mary Poppins type person shows up at your doorstep for the nanny position; you know someone totally loveable who doesn’t mind a little fussing and fits into the family perfectly!?
Thanks for sharing the updates and the photos! You have handsome boys.
I bet it feels so nice to be in the running saddle again. You’re awesome!

HOW is he two months old!?!?! So crazy. He’s growing out of the newborn look. :)
And Avery wasn’t exactly colicky, but very high needs, so I understand. But she has done well in daycare, even in her early days when she was going through that.
