Hi all! Just popping in share another recent design – this time something in print! I spend most of my time working with digital design – websites, ebooks, newsletters, and blogs, so it’s always fun change of pace to do something in print.
In preparation for her latest book’s release, Why Can’t I Be You (13-word review: couldn’t put it down, really great, even better than her first. READ IT.), Allie wanted bookplates that coordinated with her website that I designed and her book that inspired the website design. She uses the labels as both bookplates and mailing labels (smart lady!).
Although it seems like a simple little project, it was fairly involved. I took her logo, site color palette and fonts, and created shape similar to the frame on her book cover and combined them all to create a product that felt like Allie’s brand. (Allie, you have a brand now, fancy lady!)
And, yes, having a 2-year-old means he was drawn to them immediately. Hence the crinkles. And the giraffe peering at them.

Gosh, those bookplates are practically as lovely as Allie’s writing. I can’t wait to read her new book!
Kelly says
Those are awesome- I love it! Somehow I haven’t read her first book yet, but I need to get on that- perhaps it will be on my April to do list!
Allie says
I love the way Gabe’s giraffe coordinates so perfectly with the gorgeous pop of yellow on the bookplates! You rock. I love these so much and get oohs and ahhs over them all the time! Brilliant, brilliant design. And so thrilled that you loved the book.
